ixPressia brings variable data to wide-format graphics

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

ixPressia is pleased to announce the launch at FESPA Munich of ixPressionist, its exciting new product for personalising wide format graphics.  Today’s designers and end customers are seeking increasingly variable output that can apply across many areas, including basic signs as well as retail and any other area where repeat graphics need to mix with individual elements, such as text, barcodes and graphics.

ixPressionist is a powerful, professional Variable Data Printing (VDP) software solution for anyone who owns a printing machine and wants to handle VDP easily.  It is also of value to designers and pre-press operatives who don’t own a printing machine, but who want to send finished jobs, ready to RIP and output, to a third-party production house.

ixPressionist can be used with any printer or RIP that supports PDF input and is very easy to use.  It is a standalone product, not a plug-in, and supports embedded RGB and CMYK colour profiles.  Users can design and edit high resolution graphics to contain variable data such as text, barcodes and graphics.  Links are made to external data sources, or the variable data is generated internally, and the output is an optimised, multi-page PDF file.

Sophie Matthews-Paul, independent consultant for wide-format digital printing, is championing ixPressionist, saying, “This is the product that the industry has been waiting for.  I was very impressed by the simplicity and effectiveness of ixPressia’s product and it is of value to anyone who wants to handle VDP easily.”
Jim Taylor, Managing Director of ixPressia, says “This is a breakaway from our traditional industrial market.  We have applied our proven high-speed variable data technology to create an easy-to-use VDP creation tool for the graphics printing market.”

ixPressia will be selling ixPressionist on stand 161 in Hall B1 at FESAP Munich and will also be exhibiting its established industrial software range on the Xennia stand.

ixPressionist will also be available for download after the show from its website.  Simply visit http://www.ixpressia.com.

ixPressia software helps G-MAT print blister packs

Sample G-Mat printed blister pack

ixPressia is pleased to announce that their Print Engine software is being used in a pharmaceutical production and packaging line. ixPressia’s Print Engine Mono Label software has been fully integrated into G-MAT’s production line inkjet printer, enabling the pharmaceutical manufacturer to print information directly onto foil blister packs. The software controls the printer, and allows fully variable data printing, so that text and images can be varied, such as use-by dates, language, bar codes and batch numbers. If required each blister pack could have entirely different information printed on it.

The blister printing machine, which features Xaar 760 inkjet printheads, was designed by G-MAT as a bespoke machine to deliver the technical requirements of the customer, producing high quality printing, and late stage customisation at the speed of the production line (240 blisters per minute).

Rod Mitchell, Technical Director of G-MAT says, “The ixPressia Print Engine Mono Label software presented the ideal solution for us. The software allows late stage customisation, and marking individual blisters with unique information if required. The end-user has the option of designing the blister print image away from the line and then sending the information to the printer. The system is ideal for applications needing the security of individual coding for tracking and tracing of products, and brand protection.”

Jim Taylor, MD of ixPressia explains “The variable information is sent to the printheads in real time, with no delay, so the printer can run at the full speed of the printheads. Our software has been designed to be production-ready for industrial applications such as this, and we are delighted that it has been integrated into the system successfully.”

Declan Kelly, Project Engineer, Schering-Plough, the end customer comments, “The machine represents a step forward for blister printing. The print quality and flexibility are excellent; also the blister handling provides significant advantages for a production environment.”
